I am a Lecturer in Sociolinguistics at the University of Edinburgh. I am also a Research Associate on Speaking Citizens, and a Visiting Fellow of Linguistics at the University of Suffolk. I am a sociolinguist who is principally interested in exploring the social meaning of variable patterns of language.

My research explores the interaction between digital culture and language variation and change. Most of my research has examined the linguistic practices of young people.
